Biography

A.W.O.L. was a hip-hop/rap group from Detroit, Michigan, made up of Boogieman, Soul Man and DJ Homicide. They were signed to Rock-A-Fella Records in the mid 90's.

A product of the Detroit, Michigan hip-hop underground, A.W.O.L. attempts to make a bold statement through their album, "Detroit 4 Life", which displays their vast lyrical and production skills as well as offering the listener a look at the Motor City's hip-hop underground talent, that unfortunately, has been grossly overlooked. "There's a lot of people here that are talented", explains Boogieman.

"There's a lot of love here [in Detroit], but we get none back. The only thing that they [past record companies] left us is a museum. There's no offices or references on how to get into the industry and what to look for... The only thing that record companies or the music industry jumps on is what city is hot now. That's why we all say that we're Detroit for life. If Detroit for life means staying underground and local, then that's just what it's gonna be."
